Zelira Therapeutics’ cannabis trial meets goals for insomnia

Positive results from a Phase Ia/IIb clinical trial of medicinal cannabis for the treatment of Insomnia Clinical Trials Market have been reported by Zelira Therapeutics.

The primary and secondary endpoints of the study, which was carried out at the UWA Centre for Sleep Science, were met.

The company's cannabis formulation ZTL-101 was evaluated for its effectiveness in treating patients with chronic insomnia symptoms during the study.

After receiving ZTL-101 for 14 nights, 23 participants received a placebo for 14 nights. Sublingually, each participant received either 0.5 ml of total cannabinoids containing 11.5 mg or 1 ml of total cannabinoids containing 23 mg.

The medication was well tolerated and did not cause any serious side effects, according to the trial data.

All doses of ZTL-101 resulted in a statistically significant decrease in ISI scores when compared to placebo. Treatment was found to be dose-responsive.

Additionally, the medication resulted in a reduction in the amount of time spent awake and a rise in the quality of sleep.

Osagie Imasogie, the chairman of Zelira Therapeutics, stated: As a result of the Zelira team's rigorous scientific work, ZLT-101 now joins the portfolio of Zelira products that are being sold in the US and around the world, including the recently launched HOPE line.

"Zelira will continue to implement its one-of-a-kind launch, learning, and development strategy to enter the market in 2020 with additional scientifically validated products for a variety of conditions. ZLT-101, one of Zelira's clinically validated products, continues to disrupt the conventional pharmaceutical industry.
